Flow of
Development activities in Herat Province

2010:-
The
Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and
United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), through the
National Area-Based Development Programme (NABDP), has
completed 25 rural development projects. 3 Projects are
ongoing and 3 other projects are being designed in the
various districts of Herat Province.
The projects
includes: Gravelling of 150 km of secondary roads, 2 clinics
with protection walls, 2 community centers, purchasing of 30
tracks, digging of 120 wells, cleaning of 4,000 meters of
Karez, construction of 500 meters of protection wall and
construction of 1200 gabion Walls, at a total Cost of 100
million Afs, funded by NABDP, implemented by CDCs and
Monitored by DDAs.

NABDP provides electricity to Wakhan District of Badakhshan
Province
Kabul, Afghanistan (09 June 2010)
The
Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and
United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), through the
National Area-Based Development Programme (NABDP), has
implemented a 60 kW micro hydro scheme in the Wakhan
district of Badakhshan province which was commissioned in 30
May 2010.
The Project is
benefitting 380 households of Khanduz and Yezak villages by
providing electricity in their households. The power is
generated with a design discharge of 220 litre per second
from Khanduz river and head of 55 meters from forebay to
powerhouse. The length of the headrace canal is only 50
meters long, diverted from the river by intake construction
and a temporary weir in the river.

Community Development Councils lead 58 rural development
projects initiated by NABDP
Kabul, Afghanistan (07 June 2010)
The
Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and
United National Development Programme (UNDP), has awarded a
contract valued at approximately two million USD to
Community Development Councils (CDCs) and District
Development Assemblies (DDAs) for implementation of 58 rural
development projects under the National Area-Based
Development Programme (NABDP) in 10 provinces: Ghor,
Hillmand, Herat, Jowzjan, Kabul, Kandahar, Kundoz,
Nangarhar, Nimroz and Panjshir.
The projects will
benefit more than thousand families in rural areas in this
comprehensive approach. Rural areas will be connected

NABDP Implementing 1974 Rural
Development Projects and Established 376 DDAs in Various
District of Afghanistan
Kabul, 24 May 2010:-
The
Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and
United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), through the
National Area-Based Development Programme (NABDP), has
completed 1269 rural Development Projects and 632 Projects
are ongoing in the various district across the country.
NABDP Has also
established 376 District Development Assemblies (DDAs) in 33
provinces of Afghanistan.
The projects
includes, construction of 32 Clinic Buildings, 122 school
buildings, 48 Administrative Building, Gravelling of
31,569km Secondary Roads, construction of 1,416 km primary
road, 35 Bridges, Cleaning of 2,169,241 meters Canal,

A newly established Community
Center handed over to Dehsabz District Development Assembly
Kabul, 25 April 2010--

Ministry of Rural
Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and United Nation
Development Programme (UNDP), through National Area-Based
Development Programme (NABDP), has completed construction of
a Community Center in the center of Dehsabz district of
Kabul province.
Some 28 District
Development Assembly members will benefit from this
Community Center where they will be able to conduct their
planning meetings and Shuras in regular basis. It will also
be used as a central meeting point for the local community
of more than 47,000 people to resolve their social problems
and conflicts in peaceful manner.

More then one thousand Student is getting benefits from
handing-over ceremony of a school in Mohmandara District
Jalalabad, Afghanistan (3 February 2010)
Ministry
of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and United
National Development Programme (UNDP), through the National
Area-Based Development Programme (NABDP), has completed a
boys and girls school in Basawah Village, Mohmandara
district, Nangarhar Province.
The school occupies 2 jeribs of lands, equivalent to once
hectare. The facilities include 16th classrooms,
2 administration rooms, a library and a play ground for
students. The total cost of $ 282,642.00 USD which
implemented through NABDP and funded by DAIG - Japan.
The mentioned school benefits a total of 1800 boys and girls
from more then thousand rural families in basawah village.
